SANTA MONICA – The Galaxy finally brought a win home. After four weeks of just mixing the mark, Galaxy managed to claim a 1-0 victory over Montreal Impact to finally bring home a win.
Ola Kamara became the clutch player for the Galaxy against Montreal Monday afternoon. Emmanuel Boatenge managed to win a 50-50 ball, heading it just over the Montreal backline while Kamara rolled past the backline for a two-touch goal in the final 15 minutes of play, propelling LA to its first victory in weeks. It didn’t take much for the Galaxy either who went 4 for 7 on the day and controlled just under 50 percent of the possession.
However, the game was anything but quiet before the goal. While Galaxy was the only one to find the back of the net, both teams accumulated a total of seven cards together — four of which were handed out before the half. The Galaxy took the biggest of the night as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off the field in the 41st minute after smacking Montreal’s Michael Petrasso across the head. While it is unclear exactly what happened, Petrasso appears to have stepped on Ibrahimovic’s foot causing him to react.
The Galaxy will face San Jose next on Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m. at Stubhub Center.
