St. George, Grenada — CONCACAF held the draw for the U17 Women’s Championship in St. George, Grenada on Friday. Guatemala will play Canada in the opening match of the 10 day tournament at the Chinese financed and recently completed Grenada Athletic Stadium.
Players who will participate in the this international tournament will gain invaluable experience international match play and be better prepared for National Team and international CAPS, said Canada Head Coach Bev Priestman.
This tournament is unique in that play will be split between two stadiums. Teams in Group A will play in the Grenada Athletic Stadium while teams in Group B will play in the Grenada National Stadium. The Grenada National Stadium has previously hosted many soccer and cricket tournaments.
As match play progresses, the two finalists and the third place match winner of the tournament will qualify directly to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016.
