SANTA MONICA – Montreal Impact dominated Chicago Fire on Wednesday, beating them, 3-0. This marks their third win in a row.
Montreal got down to business quickly, with Ignacio Piatti scoring in just the sixth minute of the match. Montreal then held onto this one goal lead for the next half an hour. Then, in minute 37, Montreal turned up the heat and stretched their lead to two goals. Matteo Mancoso had a great run and was taken down in the box. He then put the ball in the back of the net during a penalty kick.
Then, just a minute later Montreal kept their momentum going and scored once more. It was Ignacio Piatti, once again. He managed to slide the ball past Chicago’s defense and into the far corner of the net, giving Montreal a strong 3-0 lead.
Chicago Fire did try to come back, however, they were unsuccessful and the game ended at 3-0.
This is a big win for Montreal, who is trying to earn a spot in the playoffs. They are currently ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference, while Chicago Fire is ranked third.
Next, Montreal Impact will try to keep their winning streak alive when they face off against Real Salt Lake on August 19th at 4:30. Chicago Fire will try to turn around their two game losing streak and beat Toronto FC on August 19th at 5:00.
