The Seattle Sounders and Atlanta United FC had their first competitive match on Friday, March 31, but no victor emerged when the game ultimately ended in a draw.

This was Atlanta’s first draw in club history, as it is their debut campaign. But impressively for a new team, they had more shots on target that night than Seattle. Player Josef Martinez was out due to an injury, but the team still showed an inspiring performance, especially on the defensive side.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Sounders could’ve had a better performance, as they were just a few inches shy from taking three points. However, Cristian Roldan had very good looks that night, and Clint Dempsey had a header clang off the post.

Both teams featured reserves. Defender Jordy Delem made his MLS debut with the Sounders, and started in a backline with Tony Alfaro, who replaced Chad Marshall. For Atlanta, Chris McCann and Jacob Peterson had their first starts on this team. Miguel Almiron and Kenwyne Jones were off the bench in the second half.

Seattle will play next on April 8 in San Jose at 10:30 PM ET, while Atlanta will play April 8 in Toronto at 7:30 PM ET on MLS LIVE.
