Saturday marked the LA Galaxy’s first win of the season and coach Curt Onalfo’s first win as head coach! The team has had a hard time playing in unison as they adjusted to having so many new, young players in addition to a new coach. However, Saturday has started to flip the scales in their favor with their 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake.
Transitioning a team with so many new faces is no easy feat, and this game saw a lot of young players begin to show their star quality. Romain Alessandrini, specifically, really started to make a name for himself. He has shown great potential starting every match this season thus far. This game, however, he excelled and helped score both goals, giving him his first two assists of his MLS career.
He assisted defender Dave Romney’s first ever MLS goal in the 69th minute, and helped midfielder Emmanuel Boateng do what he does best: score against Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy will face RSL two more times this season, which is good news for Boateng. He has scored 5 goals throughout his MLS career and all of them have been against Real Salt Lake.
While Saturday’s game is a good start for the Galaxy in working together as a team, they really need to keep this up when they play Vancouver on April 1st at 7 pm.
