The LA Galaxy finished off their string of four straight away games on Saturday without taking home one loss. Yesterday, they faced DC United and tied them, 0-0. They won their three previous games on the road, and tied the two games they played before that.
The lack of goals in this game, however, was not for lack of trying. Both teams put the pressure on offensively with 34 shots on goal being made, 12 of them being on target. However, neither team could find the back of the net, thanks to both goalies making numerous saves.
Although he would have preferred a win, LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jon Kempin, who shutout D.C. United overall seemed pleased with the game.
“Whenever you’re on the road, you always want to get a result, whether that’s a win or a tie. Obviously, we came here to get the win, but we ended up with a 0-0 draw. It’s always good when you don’t give up a goal, so we’ll take the result,” he told LAGalaxy.com
LA Galaxy head coach Curt Onalfo, however, is looking at this game as a learning experience. “There are things that we’ve got to continue to improve upon and we’ve got a stretch now where we can work on a lot of those things. At the same time, we can give some guys some well-deserved rest that have played a lot of minutes consecutively and we want to continue our momentum and continue to build on what’s been a good stretch for us,” he told LAGalaxy.com
And rest they will, the LA Galaxy is not playing again until Wednesday, June 14th at 7:30. Then, they will take on Orange County SC in the fourth round of the US open cup. D.C. United will face Christos FC on Tuesday at 4:30 in the fourth round as well.
