North Carolina Courage kept up their undefeated 4 game winning streak by beating the Boston Breakers on Sunday night, 1-0. The Breakers, currently with two wins and two losses, fought hard, but despite many chances, were shut out by the Courage.
It was a scoreless game for the first 30 minutes, with both teams unable to make any real power plays. Then, in minute 32, Jessica McDonald recovered a missed shot off the post. She put the ball in the net, scoring the only goal of the game and giving the Courage the win.
The Breakers made several promising attempts after that throughout the second half, but they struggled to make a goal. “Obviously they’re a tough team to play against. They’re resilient. They’re athletic,” said Boston Breakers coach Matt Beard in a press release. “It was a tough night with the conditions, both teams having to deal the wind. It was tough.”
Next, the Breakers will play the Chicago Red Stars on May 14th at 3:00, while the Courage will try to keep up their undefeated record against Jacksonville Armada FC on Saturday, May 13th at 7:30.
