Sky blue FC fought an uphill battle the whole game on Saturday. Even after scoring 3 goals, they weren’t able to pull out a win against Washington Spirit. The game ended with Sky Blue FC losing 4-3.

It all started with Washington’s Francisca Ordega scoring in the 6th minute of the game.  Soon after, Kelley O’Hara responded tying the game up 1-1.

That tie didn’t last for long, in minute 25 Washington scored, and Sky Blue was down yet again. They fought hard, but it was Washington who scored next in minute 34. Down 3-1, Sky Blue really turned the heat up and in the 50th minute it was nothing but net, narrowing Washington’s lead to 3-2.

However, Washington meant business and Ordega scored once again, tipping the scales even further in their favor, 4-2.

Sky Blue FC fought hard. They even scored again in the 70th minute, making it 4-3, but it wasn’t enough.

“We are extremely disappointed to come away from a game with a loss after scoring three goals,” said Sky Blue FC coach Christy Holly in a press release. “We had too many lapses in concentration defensively, and we paid for it. Despite the outcome, we will look to focus on the positives that we can take away from tonight. Going forward, we will have great confidence in knowing we can cause problems for any team we play.”

Sky Blue FC will take on Houston Dash next Saturday at 1:00, while Washington Spirit will play Seattle Reign next Saturday at 1:00.
